My 20 years experience as a Hairstylist has given me the experience of seeing all aspects to hair trauma due to harsh chemicals including excessive hair breakage, scalp abrasions, thinning sides, per mature Alopecia, dull lifeless hair due to chemical abuse from over processing hair and also hair loss due to medications and illness..
I have worked in numerous salons and have professional experience working with all hair textures, genders, all cultures and ethnic groups. My career as a Stylist has been in hood shops, Upscale salons to even The Haircuttery...
I have been Mentored by many throughout my journey as a Hairstylist my a grandmother was my first mentor as a youth she taught me the importance of Haircare and how to mix herbs, Glovers mane and olive oil as an aid to having healthy hair. Even though she straighten hair she never used chemicals only a Hot comb. I learned at a very early age who to use hot combs, stove curlers and even using brown bag to curl..
My Mother is also important to my development as a Stylist as a Teen she would take me to Hair shows and Culture events that open my creativity to fashion, hair and makeup. Another Mentor that I must mention is Evette Smalls I was introduced to her by my Mother and as a small child Evette would braid my hair in intricate designs with beads an cowrie shells.. Evette Smalls later mentored me throughout my development as a Stylist and conscience woman in the Community.
The Philadelphia Locks Conference was a venue that gave me a chance to showcase my skills and win several awards for my craft, Founder Sharon Goodman was someone who motivated me and supported me at events I facilitated.
